Yesterday there was a protest ride in Southeast Portland. In May there was a spate of traffic carnage which killed one man, severed one man’s leg and broke the leg of another. Here are some photos from No More Ghost Bikes. (Click on a photo to see it full size.)
This is where we started the No More Ghost Bikes ride. The fellow sitting in the grass with his legs out in front of him seemed rather surprised to be surrounded by cyclists.
Toward the end of No More Ghost Bikes ride we crossed Hawthorne. The cargo bike on the right is carrying a wrecked bike of a man killed by a car back in 2009 in this neighborhood (on Division Street, I think).
This is Will Vanlue, a Portland bicycle advocate who started the petition to downgrade Portland’s bicycle friendly community platinum status with the League of American Bicyclists.
